Historical complex protected by the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage, has an ancient history that starts from 1100 even if recent studies could date its birth at least 500 years earlier. Positioned on a gentle hill, with a panoramic view that sweeps over the wide valley from which we can see Perugia, the castle is composed of 4 towers inserted in a widespread village of rare beauty.

A careful restoration, respectful of the original features, allows you to fully enjoy the beauty of the complex that has become a Historical Dimore today. The historic house is set in a large park with over 10,000 square meters of gardens in which the two beautiful swimming pools are also set. The Castle is a unique location, halfway between Rome and Florence, central to the major cities of art such as Assisi, Perugia, Todi, Spoleto, Siena and Arezzo that can be reached in a very short time. The buildings of the Castle are surrounded by almost 10,000 square meters of gardens and lawns, of which about 1,600 are "private gardens" of the apartments on the ground floor. The rest of the gardens are available to guests who can choose the place they prefer to sit and relax. At the top of the hill there are two terraces-terraces with wonderful views of the valleys and surrounding woods and the many medieval villages and historic houses that can be seen at a distance. Perugia with its Etruscan walls and its main monasteries is visible 16 km away from one of the terraces, many private gardens and many windows of the apartments. The Sereni-Torricella forest, protected by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage (henceforth MiBACT) and the European Union, is visible 2.5 km away.

The Castle has two swimming pools with a beautiful view of the valley. The largest, facing north-west, is 16 meters long and 6 wide. The smallest, measuring 8 meters by 4, faces north-east towards Perugia. To keep the latter clean, chlorine is not used, but oxygen is used. The Castle restaurant is called "Il Rifugio di San Costanzo", because the first bishop of Perugia, who was called Costanzo, took refuge in Monticelli in 174 AD. during a persecution of the Christians under Marcus Aurelius (emperor from 160 to 180 AD). There are traces of S. Costanzo in the chapel of Monticelli which are illustrated in other parts of this site.

The restaurant is generally open only for dinner and only by reservation. Dinners are offered in the Gothic hall or outdoors if the weather permits. The Rifugio di San Costanzo offers typical dinners of the Italian regions, in particular of Umbria, Tuscany and Lazio. The pasta is often home-made, the vegetables are often organic and "zero kilometers" because they come from the large organic garden of the farm of the castle. The farm of the castle has about 4 hectares of cultivable land in the plains and about 4 hectares of forest along the slopes of the hill. The organic vegetable garden measures about 16,300 square meters of which 5,000 are cultivated with berries (especially blackberries and raspberries). The rest of the land is cultivated with alfalfa or covered with fruit and olive trees.

Botticelli (2 + 2 beds) The apartment is located in the Torre Piccola. Measure 90 square meters net. In the past the lower floor was used for the production of wine. In the ancient cellar, a beautiful bedroom has been created with a charming open bathroom, in which the terracotta tub for pressing grapes has become a gigantic bathtub. From the room you have direct access to the private garden with views of Perugia 15 km away. The tower is accessed by a large living room with a large antique fireplace. The apartment also consists of a further large double bedroom, two bathrooms and a kitchen with oven, dishwasher and washing machine and measures 101 square meters net. The beautiful and large outdoor terrace with a wonderful view of Perugia is divided with the other two apartments of the Torre Piccola.
 

Venus (5 +1 beds) The apartment is located on the first floor of the building called Case Corte (from houses with private courtyard) and consists of three bedrooms with three private bathrooms, two with bath and one with shower. The living room has a large antique fireplace and a kitchenette. The apartment has a beautiful view both to the north on the valley below and to the south on the garden inside the village. There are two independent entrances to the apartment and the large garden adjacent to the two entrances is shared with three other apartments in the building.
 
Giove (4 + 1 beds) The apartment is located in the tower of the Corte Houses and is has three floors with entrance to the first floor. Entrance from the living room with a kitchenette. From the living room a wooden staircase leads to the second floor which has a large bedroom with two beds, a sofa bed and a bathroom with a shower. The third floor has a double bed, a bathroom with shower and a lovely terrace from which opens a beautiful view of the valley below, on Perugia to the north-east and on the nearby Tuscany to the west with a view of Mount Amiata on clear days.
